Wooden kitchen fronts: market overview and technical criteria
Introduction
The market for wooden and wood-veneered MDF kitchen fronts is growing strongly in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Several makers now specialise in doors compatible with IKEA METOD cabinets, each with their own technical choices, their own world and their own model.
An overview of the main makers
Reform (Denmark). A strong Scandinavian design identity, with collections drawn in collaboration with well-known architects and designers. A premium positioning.
Superfront (Sweden). A broad catalogue of patterns, reliefs and painted or veneered fronts, compatible with METOD and PAX cabinets. A very decorative positioning.
Bocklip (France). A very wide offer of materials and finishes, with showrooms where the fronts can be seen in person.
Jacamar. A workshop specialising in real oak veneer, with direct contact between the customer and the team that makes the fronts.
The criteria to compare
The panel core and its density, the nature and thickness of the surface, the type of edge, the number of finish coats, lead times and support. For prices, always compare the same reference, for instance a 60 × 80 cm door in the same species and the same finish, checked on the same day on each website.
Where Jacamar stands
Our fronts are built on a high-density MDF core of 750 kg/m³, covered with a selected oak veneer, with oak-veneered edges, one stain coat followed by two coats of varnish, and machining calibrated for Utrusta hinges. They are made in our workshop in Brașov.
Conclusion
Each maker answers different expectations: signature design, breadth of catalogue, showrooms, or closeness to the workshop. Compare the technical sheets, then judge on a sample.
