The product
A solid oak kitchen plinth, in a single 220 cm length, that clips onto the legs of IKEA METOD cabinets. Slide the black plastic ring of the METOD legs into the groove of the plinth, then clip the plinth onto the legs.
Solid oak, not MDF
Most kitchen plinths are chipboard or MDF covered with a wood-effect foil. Ours is cut from solid oak, in a single 220 cm piece, with no finger joints and no seams. It is a dense, heavy piece designed for hard use: at the foot of a kitchen it takes knocks, vacuum cleaner bumps and floor washing for decades, where chipboard swells and crumbles within a few seasons.
An invisible seal against water
The underside of the plinth is lightly routed to take a thin rubber strip, completely invisible once the plinth is fitted. This seal stops water from seeping behind the plinth or into the wood when you wash the floor. This routing is what gives the kitchen plinth its actual height: 7.5 cm for the 8 cm plinth, 10.5 cm for the 11 cm plinth.
Technical details
Genuine solid oak, 16 mm thick, with natural grain, in a single 220 cm piece, in two heights: 8 cm or 11 cm. Actual height: 7.5 cm for the 8 cm plinth, 10.5 cm for the 11 cm plinth (routed underneath for the invisible rubber seal). Routed underside for the rubber anti-seepage seal. Three coats of matt lacquer, spray-applied in our workshop. Water and stain resistant surface, made for everyday kitchen use. Made in Europe in small batches, with quality control at every stage. Can be cut to the length you need with a circular saw fitted with a fine-tooth blade.
Working out the quantity
Our plinths are sold in 220 cm lengths. Measure the total run to cover, including sides and islands, divide that figure by 220, then round up to the next whole number. Allow a margin of 10 to 20% for cuts.
For a living room, hallway or bedroom piece, choose our furniture plinth instead, supplied at the exact width of the unit.
Delivery and returns
Production: 6 to 8 weeks (+ delivery, one week on average). Kerbside delivery, by appointment. Made to order, so it cannot be returned or exchanged.
